MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. The Russian stock indices started the week with mixed dynamics.

At the end of the day, the MOEX index edged up by 0.01% to 3,184.88 points, the dollar denominated RTS index increased by 0.81%, to 1,145.27 points.

The yuan exchange rate decreased by 0.09% to 12.133 rubles, the dollar rate dropped by 0.81% to 87.60 rubles, the euro rate went down by 1.09% to 96.00 rubles.

The Moscow Exchange index reached the round mark of 3,200 points, after which it retreated slightly under the pressure of a strong ruble and cheaper oil, said investment strategist at BCS World of Investments Alexander Bakhtin adding that the external background was rather negative.

"Asian and European markets declined. The general sentiment could be influenced by weak economic statistics. The volume of industrial production in the eurozone in annual terms fell by 6.8% in November, which is higher than the forecast (-6.4%). GDP of Germany, the "driving force" of the European economy, decreased by 0.3% at the end of 2023. Today is a day off in the USA (Martin Luther King Day)," Bakhtin added.

On Monday, the leaders of growth at the end of the session were shares of Bank St. Petersburg (+4.39%), Cherkizovo securities (+3.64%), receipts of Ozon (+3.14%), preferred shares of Bashneft (+2.59%), M.Video securities (+2.45%), Fix Price receipts (+2.02%), Alrosa shares (+1.79%), Globaltrans receipts (+1.6%), VK securities (+0.28%).

The leaders of decline were shares of PIK (-1.81%), Severstal (-1.23%), Lukoil (-1.21%), Surgutneftegaz (-1. 11%), VTB (-1.04%), Mechel (-0.85%).

According to a forecast by BCS World of Investments, on Tuesday, January 16, the MOEX index will be in the range of 3,100 - 3,225 points, at the dollar-to-ruble rate will fluctuate between 86.5 and 89.5 rubles.
