Consumer inflation in Russia was 7.42% in 2023 — economy ministry

In monthly terms, consumer prices growth slowed down to 0.73% in December 2023

MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. Consumer inflation in Russia amounted in late December 2023 to 7.42% in annual terms against December 2022, the Ministry of Economic Development says in its price review.

"Consumer inflation stood at 7.42% as of the end of 2023, compared to December 2022. In monthly terms, consumer prices growth slowed down to 0.73% in December [2023]," the ministry informed.

"In the foods sector, the rise in prices slowed down to 1.49% with the decline in price growth rates for foods, except vegetables and fruits, while the prices for fruits and vegetables changed by 6.08%. In the non-food sector, inflation decelerated to 0.42% amid the slowdown in price growth rates for domestic cars," the ministry added.
