Kazakhstan ups export of cargoes by rail to Russia, China, Uzbekistan in 2023
Shipments to Russia increased by 1.1 mln tons last year to 34.6 mln tons
ASTANA, January 12. /TASS/. Kazakhstan boosted exports of cargoes by rail to Russia, China and Uzbekistan in 2023, the press service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), or Kazakhstan Railways, reported.
"In 2023, exports of cargoes in the direction of China, Uzbekistan, Russia grew compared with 2022. Shipments to Russia increased by 1.1 mln tons last year to 34.6 mln tons. In the structure of exports coal shipments equal 20.3 mln tons, of which 8.9 mln tons of solid fuel were transited to third countries via Russia. Moreover, 4.5 mln tons of chemicals and sodium, 1.7 mln tons of petroleum products, 1 mln tons of grain were transited," the report said.
Supplies by rail to China gained 35% last year compared with 2022 to 12.7 mln tons, with exports of grain, non-ferrous metals and petroleum products having risen substantially.
"Exports of cargoes by rail to Uzbekistan went up by 29% to 10 mln tons, with petroleum products, chemicals and mineral fertilizers, ferrous metals delivered. Around 3.5 mln tons of grain were exported. Coal exports increased by 1.4 mln tons to 3.1 mln tons," the press service said.
