Global electric car sales up by 31% in 2023 — consulting company
In 2022, the growth in sales of electric vehicles was 60%
LONDON, January 11. /TASS/. Sales of electric cars in the world grew by 31% in 2023 to 13.6 million, Reuters reported this, citing the British consulting company Rho Motion.
In 2022, the growth in sales of electric vehicles (EV) was 60%.
"The pace of growth is slowing, but that's what's expected in growing markets like this. You can't double every year," Rho Motion data manager Charles Lester told Reuters.
Lester added that sales in December hit a monthly record of 1.5 million units. According to him, said global EV sales last year were in line with the company's original expectations. For 2024, the firm forecasts global EV sales growth of between 25% and 30%.
Last year, Rho Motion estimates that 9.5 million all-electric vehicles were sold, with the rest being hybrids. Sales of all-electric cars grew by 50% in the US and Canada, by 27% in Europe and by 15% in China.
