HAVANA, January 10. /TASS/. Exports of bananas from Ecuador to Russia are running smoothly, executive director of the Ecuador’s Association of Bananas Marketing and Export (Acorbanec) Richard Salazar told TASS.

"Bananas are being exported normally from Ecuador to Russia and to other market, to which we are supplying bananas. We had minor individual logistical difficulties that we overcame," Salazar noted. "The port infrastructure and shipping companies are functioning normally now," he added.

Gang violence erupted in Ecuador on January 7, following the prison escape of a gang leader known as Fito, who heads the Los Choneros gang. Riots occurred in several penitentiary establishments after that. President of Ecuador Daniel Noboa declared the state of emergency in the country on January 8.
