First flight of new SJ 100 airplane to take place early next year — chief executive
In 2024, a total of twenty SJ airplanes is planned to be delivered to airlines
MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. Series deliveries of SJ 100 passenger jets with Russian PD-8 engines will begin in 2024, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yury Slyusar said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV Channel.
"We are awaiting a permit for the maiden flight from counterparties in the United Engine Corporation. Engines have already been mounted on our prototype airplanes. As soon as we receive this permit, I think we will perform ground practicing work in the remaining days of this year and will expect the first flight at the start of the next year," the chief executive said.
In 2024, a total of twenty SJ airplanes is planned to be delivered to airlines, Slyusar added. Overall, 210 MC-21 jets, about 140 SJ jets, 115 Tu-214 airliners, and 70 Il-114 airplanes are planned for supplies by 2030, he noted.
