Ukraine's energy grid depends on foreign electricity — national utility
On December 21, Ukraine set a record for the amount of imported electricity, when it totaled 6,630 MW per hour
MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Ukraine continues to get more and more electricity from Moldova, Romania and Slovakia, setting new daily records for imports twice this month already, the country’s main energy company, Ukrenergo, said.
"Electricity is being imported around the clock from Slovakia, Romania and Moldova. The total quantity is 14,011 MW per hour, with maximum capacity reaching 771 MW during certain [peak usage] hours," the utility company said on its Telegram channel.
On December 21, Ukraine set a record for the amount of imported electricity, when it totaled 6,630 MW per hour.
The country had to ask Poland, Romania and Slovakia for emergency aid to help keep its energy grid afloat in December due to a huge surge in electricity consumption because of the cold weather.
