Share of Russian LNG in Japan’s imports up to 12.3% in November

Japan boosted LNG supplies from Russia by 46.9% in November, while total imports from all countries slipped by 3.9%
TOKYO, December 20. /TASS/. The share of Russia’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Japan’s total imports of this fuel type rose to 12.29% in November with the average level in the past several years roughly standing at 9-10%, according to TASS calculations based on figures released by the Japanese finance ministry.
Japan boosted LNG supplies from Russia by 46.9% in November, while total imports from all countries slipped by 3.9%. In value terms, imports of Russian LNG gained 12%. In November 2022, Russia accounted for 8.04% of LNG imports.
This category only accounts for 61.7% of total imports by Tokyo from Russia and more than 50% of total trade turnover between the two countries, according to TASS calculations.
