Russia adds over 100,000 tons of grain to intervention fund this year

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russia has acquired more than 100,000 metric tons of grain for its intervention fund this year through purchases on the National Mercantile Exchange, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.

"Purchases totaled over 107,000 metric tons: 58,995 metric tons of third class soft wheat, 36,315 metric tons of fourth class soft wheat, and 12,420 metric tons of rye not lower than third class," the ministry said on its official Telegram channel.

Trading takes place every business day. Russia has used the strategy of intervening to buy and sell grain in order to regulate domestic prices since 2001.
