Wildberries enters Chinese market

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russia’s marketplace Wildberries has started working with producers and sellers from China, founder and owner of the company Tatyana Bakalchuk said in an interview with RBC.
"We currently start working with producers and sellers from China, who will deliver their products directly to our platform for all countries where we are present," she said.
Russia’s business remains prior, Bakalchuk stressed, adding that the company’s entering the Chinese market will not affect it. Russia currently accounts for 90% of Wildberries’ turnover, while its overseas activities account for the remaining 10%. The company operates in Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, and Azerbaijan.
Wildberries started negotiations with potential partners in China in August 2023. According to data from the registry on the website of the National Intellectual Property Administration of China, back in 2021, the company filed applications for registration of its trademark in the country in various classes in line with the International Classification of Goods and Services.
Wildberries is Russia’s largest online retailer. Its turnover for 2022 soared by 98% compared to the previous year and amounted to 1.669 trillion rubles ($17.9 bln).
