MADRID, December 17. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Spain and Russia fell by 54.2% in the first nine months of 2023 year-on-year due to the West’s sanctions, Russian Ambassador to Madrid Yury Klimenko told TASS.

Asked how anti-Russia sanctions affected trade turnover between the two countries, he said: "Trade turnover between Russia and Spain fell victim to the West’s short-sighted sanctions policy." "In 2022, Russia’s imports from Spain totaled 1.28 bln euro, down by 42% compared with the pre-sanctions 2021," the diplomat added.

"Trade turnover fell by 54.2% in the first nine months of this year compared with the same period in 2022, Russia’s exports to Spain dropped by 58.6% to 2.47 bln euro, while Russia’s imports from Spain lost 35.2% to 665.5 mln euro," Klimenko said.
