Russian Ministry of Industry expects steelmaking above 75 mln metric tons this year

Russia’s steelmaking may gain 4-5% year on year to 74-75 mln metric tons, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said earlier

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. The Russian Ministry of Industry expects steelmaking in the country to be above 75 mln metric tons as of the end of 2023, Deputy Minister Viktor Evtukhov told TASS.

"Considering the recent dynamics, we expect more than 75 mln metric tons of steel to be cast as of the year-end, which will be the second indicator after the record-high year of 2021 in the historical period of new Russia. We can therefore say the sector has successfully passed through the period of adaptation to unprecedented sanction pressure of unfriendly countries and passed to the mode of growth that will continue in the next year also," the official said.
