Russia’s foreign trade surplus falls to $109 bln in January-November

The surplus of the balance of payments account of the Russian Federation fell by more than 4.4 times over 11 months to $50.5 bln

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The foreign trade surplus of Russia in January-November 2023 decreased by more than 2.6 times compared to the same period in 2022 and reached $109 bln, according to preliminary estimates by the Bank of Russia.

"The surplus in the balance of foreign trade in goods in November was at $8.4 bln, which is $1 bln lower than the adjusted figure for October 2023," the regulator said.

At the same time, the surplus of the balance of payments account of the Russian Federation fell by more than 4.4 times over 11 months to $50.5 bln.

"The decrease in the current account surplus to 50.5 bln US dollars for January-November 2023 against to the same period in 2022 was due to a decrease in the positive trade balance to $109 bln due to a decline in exports by $154 bln and an increase in imports of goods by $27.4 bln," the Bank of Russia said.
