Russia seeks domestic solutions for digital mapping technologies — PM

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has asked Head of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography Oleg Skufinsky to come up with ideas to develop the country’s digital mapping platform as well as measures to support local GIS technologies.
"Develop and submit proposals on developing the geodetic digital platform you have presented and the required comprehensive measures to support Russia’s GIS technologies," he said at the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography’s headquarters.
"We cannot depend on foreign solutions where there are coordinates of our infrastructure," Mishustin stressed. "Satellite stations, gravimeters, and GIS should be made in Russia," he noted.
