A group of more than 60 experts and journalists visited Hainan this week, it reported. They toured the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone in the east of the island, one of the province's 13 key advanced development zones, and were impressed by the exhibition of pharmaceuticals and equipment located there.
Some of the arriving guests were noted to be interested in the special licensing system in Lacheng related to treatment and research activities and international cooperation in the relevant field. One of the Pakistani entrepreneurs expressed his desire to expand the activities of his company by promoting cooperation with this innovation platform.
A group of experts also visited the Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone in the southern part of the island. More than 20 branches of prestigious Chinese and foreign universities and colleges are registered on its territory. In accordance with the PRC government's plan, there is an active exchange of experience and the development of new effective training programs in a wide range of popular disciplines. As a British journalist who was part of the delegation noted, such projects "remove barriers that exist between educational institutions and allow for the integration of different educational concepts.
Many of the visiting specialists were interested in Hainan village life and agriculture. Particular attention was drawn to the province's rich experience in working to eliminate poverty.
In April 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the establishment of an experimental zone and free trade port on Hainan. The program aims to bring the island into the process of globalization and international division of labor, and to lay a solid innovation foundation. The provincial administration is creating attractive conditions for investors and building a developed research and development infrastructure. According to the government's plan, by 2050 this region will become a unique international cluster with an advanced economy, housing campuses of leading universities, advanced laboratories and headquarters of global corporations.
