Russia’s gas supplies to China via Power of Siberia hit record high in 2023 — PipeChina
It is reported that over 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been delivered in the four years since the route was put into operation
BEIJING, December 3. /TASS/. Russia’s gas supplies to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline has exceeded 20 billion cubic meters since the beginning of 2023, which is a record high, the Chinese pipeline company China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corp. (also known as PipeChina) reported.
"The pipeline has transported more than 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas so far this year, a record high," China Daily said citing the company.
It is reported that over 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been delivered in the four years since the route was put into operation. In 2024, the capacity of the pipeline is expected to increase drastically.
In 2022, Russia exported 15.5 billion cubic meters to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. Russian gas deliveries to China via the Power of Siberia are projected at 22 billion cubic meters in 2023. The pipeline is expected to reach its design capacity of 38 billion cubic meters in 2025.
Meanwhile, Gazprom’s total exports to China will reach 48 billion cubic meters per annum in coming years (due to implementation of the project on gas supplies to China via the Far Eastern route), whereas considering the transit gas pipeline through Mongolia - almost 100 bln cubic meters per year, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said earlier.
