Russia’s sugar production rises by 21.6% in October — statistics
In October 2023, 208,000 metric tons of chocolate and confectionery goods with sugar were manufactured, representing a 4.1% increase over October 2022 and a 12.3% increase over September 2023
MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Russia’s production of white beet sugar in October 2023 increased by 21.6% year-on-year and reached 1.6 mln metric tons, according to the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
"White beet sugar output in October 2023 reached 1.6 mln metric tons, which is 12.1% more than in October 2022 and 21.6% more than in September 2023 accordingly. Sugar production in January - October 2023 increased by 16% year-on-year and reached 4.2 mln metric tons," the report said.
In October 2023, 208,000 metric tons of chocolate and confectionery goods with sugar were manufactured, representing a 4.1% increase over October 2022 and a 12.3% increase over September 2023. The output of chocolate and confectionery goods with sugar climbed by 4.4% in the first ten months of 2023 compared to the same time previous year, totaling 1.6 mln metric tons.
Furthermore, 482,000 metric tons of milk were produced in October, which is 2.6% less than in October of the last year but 5.9% more than in September of this year. Milk production fell 1.7% from January to October 2023, totaling 4.7 mln metric tons, compared to the same period the previous year.
In October 2023, wheat and wheat-rye flour output totaled 846,000 metric tons, a 0.7% increase over October 2022 and a 4.4% increase over September 2023. In the first ten months of 2023, 7.4 mln metric tons of flour were produced, which is 0.5% above the same period in 2022. Rice output reached 70,300 metric tons, up 14.6% from October 2022 and 63.8% from September 2023. Rice production edged up by 5.6% in January - October 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, totaling 475,000 metric tons.
