Growing production costs of shale gas to influence LNG price — Gazprom
"The US anticipates either an increase or a significant drop in volumes of shale gas in long-term forecasts of the shale industry development in the country," the Russian gas holding added
MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. The increase in shale gas production costs will influence the liquefied natural gas (LNG) price in particular, Gazprom said.
Shale gas is now produced in just four countries - the United States, China, Argentina and Canada. Global production of shale gas gained 6% year on year in 2022, the Russian gas holding said.
"The US anticipates either an increase or a significant drop in volumes of shale gas in long-term forecasts of the shale industry development in the country. The bunch of factors will facilitate the increase in shale oil production costs. These are inflation, depletion of brownfields and lack of discovered greenfields and the almost exhausted potential for enhanced production on account of technologies improvement," the company said.
"The rise in production costs will drive in particular the price of LNG, where shale gas is used to produce it," Gazprom added.
