Russia launching accelerators for bringing domestic video games to international markets
Team training programs will bring in representatives of leading companies in the video game industry
MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. The Center for Development of the Creative Economy (CDCE) at the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) is launching accelerator programs aimed at easing the entry of Russian video game developers’ products in international markets, sources at the CDCE told TASS.
Experts project that game development activities will generate up to 300 bln rubles ($3.3 bln) in Russian budget revenues by 2027, while Russian games stand to tap solid demand to build a healthy market share in friendly countries.
The launch of the first game development accelerator focused on Asian markets, primarily China, was announced on November, 27 as the CDCE summed up the results of its work, sources told TASS. Moreover, the ASI plans to launch several more such accelerators in the coming years.
Team training programs will bring in representatives of leading companies in the video game industry, such as VK Play, 1C, and the Videogame Industry Development Organization, with the Digital Economy autonomous non-profit organization (ANO) also making a contribution.
Up to 30 companies with experience in video game development will be able to take part in the first accelerator program focused on Asian markets, CDCE head Ekaterina Cherkes-zade said. The organization is expecting Russia-made games to tap into serious demand to gain a healthy share of friendly countries’ markets, she said, adding that "the goal is [fiscal revenues of] 300 bln rubles by 2027."
