Russia’s steel production growing in October — WSA

Global steel production added 0.5% in annual terms to 150 mln metric tons

MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. Steel production in Russia gained 9.5% year on year in October 2023 and stood at 6.3 mln metric tons, the World Steel Association (WSA) said.

Steel production in Russia edged up by 5.3% annually to 63.5 mln metric tons in January-October 2023, according to the report by WSA.

China produced 79.1 mln metric tons in October, down 1.8% on an annualized basis. India’s production totaled 12.1 mln metric tons (plus 15.1%). Steel production increased in Japan by 2.6% to 7.5 mln metric tons and ticked up in the US by 3.4% to 6.8 mln metric tons.

Steel production by Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries stood at 7.4 mln metric tons in this October, having increased by 12.9% in annual terms. These countries produced 73.7 mln metric tons of steel within ten months of 2023, up 3.1% year on year.

Global steel production added 0.5% in annual terms to 150 mln metric tons in October 2023, WSA reported.
