According to the documents, the claim was filed on November 20 and is still being considered in the first instance
MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Russian Agricultural Bank (RSHB) filed a lawsuit against the American JP Morgan Chase Bank in the Moscow Arbitration Court, as follows from the court’s files.
According to the documents, the claim was filed on November 20 and is still being considered in the first instance. The defendant is JP Morgan Chase Bank. Russian subsidiary bank of JP Morgan - the commercial bank JP Morgan Bank International - acts as the third party in the case. The essence of the claim is not specified in the case. TASS has sent a request to the RSHB.
In the summer, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Agricultural Bank Kirill Levin reported that as part of the grain deal, the bank makes payments through JP Morgan using a special channel, payment is made in dollars. However, in July 2023, the agreements on the grain deal were terminated, and already in August the existing payment channel between RSHB and JP Morgan was disconnected.
RSHB, like most Russian banks, is disconnected from SWIFT. Its reconnection to the payment system is one of Russia’s requirements as part of the grain deal. Connecting the European subsidiary of RSHB to SWIFT is not under consideration, the bank noted.
RSHB is one of the largest banks in Russia, it is fully owned by the state. It was created in 2000 to develop the national credit and financial system of the agro-industrial sector and rural areas of the country.
