Russia’s share in global LNG production currently stands at around 8%

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Russia intends to boost LNG production from 33 mln tons this year to 100 mln tons per year by 2030, with those volumes to be ensured by planned projects, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.

"In particular, there are extensive plans on production of liquefied natural gas for offsetting the decline in supplies of pipeline gas. We see huge potential here. The task has been set to boost LNG production from 33 mln [ton] to 100 mln tons by 2030, with concrete projects that allow implementing it in place," he said at the meeting of the Federation Council’s committee on economic policy.

LNG output will start rising in Russia from next year, Novak said. "The production of liquefied natural gas will equal around 33 mln tons, same as last year. However, we expect an increase starting next year due to the launch of the first line of the Arctic LNG-2," he said.

Russia’s share in global LNG production currently stands at around 8%, Novak said earlier, adding that Moscow plans to bring it to 20%.

According to figures provided by Russia’s state statistics service Rosstat, LNG production in January-September 2023 amounted to 23.6 mln tons, down by 4.4% year-on-year. In September, LNG production totaled 2.7 mln tons, up by 3.2% year-on-year, and up by 24% month-on-month.
