MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Russia will produce 527 mln tons of oil and 440 mln tons of coal in 2023, its LNG production will reach 33 mln tons, while gas output will fall by 30 bln cubic meters due to falling supplies to Europe, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, adding that electricity production will add 0.8% this year.

"Speaking about oil production, we expect around 527 mln tons. Last year [oil production - TASS] amounted to 535 mln tons. Regarding coal, it is roughly 440 mln tons, almost flat compared with last year’s 442 mln tons," he said at the meeting of the Federation Council’s committee on economic policy.

"Gas [output] will be slightly lower than last year, by around 30 bln rubles. This is connected with the fact that the first half of last year still saw maintained gas supplies to Europe, which stopped via Nord Stream as a result of a terrorist attack. Consequently, this year there will be a decline, but those losses will be partially offset due to increased deliveries to China through the Power of Siberia," Novak said, adding that Russia’s LNG production will reach 33 mln tons in 2023, with a further increase expected in 2024 due to the launch of the first line of the Arctic LNG-2 plant.

Meanwhile, Russia’s electricity production is expected to edge up by 0.8% in 2023 to 1.15 trillion kWh, he said. "The situation in the power sector is stable, with electricity production expected at around 1.15 trillion kWh, up by 0.8% compared with last year, which is in line with consumer growth rates ensured," Deputy PM said.

Russia’s state statistics service Rosstat said earlier that the country’s natural gas production fell by 11.4% in 9M 2023 year-on-year to 380 bln cubic meters. Associated petroleum gas output rose by 4.3% in the reporting period to 78.8 bln cubic meters, while LNG production amounted to 23.6 mln tons, down by 4.4% year-on-year. Russia’s coal production edged up by 0.9% in January-September to 315 mln tons, while total electricity output added 0.3% to 856 bln kWh.
