MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) collegium has approved the concept for introducing the principles of green economy in EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) nations, EEC Spokeswoman Iya Malkina said.

"The EAEU has passed the concept of introducing the principles of green economy. The document has been drafted for the implementation of Strategy-2024. It defines four principles of green economy in the EAEU," she told a briefing.

Malkina mentioned transparency and cooperation attractiveness in the implementation of green projects, pooling of experience and well-established background of national systems of climate regulation between member states, economic efficiency, as well as an increase in the gap between economic growth and human impact on the environment, among the main principles.

"The concept that has been readied, specifies a set of internationally-recognized criteria for counting projects as green for the first time at the EAEU level. Using those criteria will enable each of the Union’s state, on the one hand, to ensure the necessary balance between protection of environment and climate and, on the other hand, to reach national targets of sustainable social and economic development," Malkina explained.

It is recommended that EAEU nations take the concept into account when developing measures on the shift to green economy, she added.
