TOKYO, November 16. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Japan and Russia fell by 47.7% in October 2023 year-on-year to 100.836 bln yen (or around $666.7 mln), according to TASS’ calculations based on data released by the Japanese Finance Ministry.

A decrease in imports of Russian liquefied natural gas by 4.6% and coal by 15.6%, as well as a 46.8% drop in supplies of cars to Russia amid sanctions against Moscow banning supplies of gasoline and diesel cars with engine displacement exceeding 1.9 liters and hybrid electric vehicles to the country, were the main factors behind the contraction of trade turnover. Energy resources and transport vehicles account for around 69% of total trade turnover.
