Hainan publishes measures for Taiwan's participation in free trade port projects
The guidelines were compiled with the participation of 10 government agencies
HAIKOU /China/, November 9. /TASS/. Authorities of South China's Hainan Province have published a list of measures to support Taiwanese enterprises participating in the formation of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the Hainan Daily newspaper reported.
According to the newspaper, the guidelines were compiled with the participation of 10 government agencies, including the Taiwan Affairs Office of Hainan Province, Hainan Development and Reform Commission. The document includes 17 articles on attracting investment, establishing business cooperation platforms at the city and county levels, and promoting joint cultural and educational programs.
It is expected that the implementation of appropriate measures will stimulate Hainan's trade and economic cooperation with Taiwan and ensure its development at a higher quality level.
Hainan Free Trade Port has been rapidly expanding ties with Taiwan in recent years. The southernmost Chinese province has issued permits for the establishment of more than 2,400 enterprises with Taiwanese capital worth $5.73 billion. Trade turnover between the two islands increased 4.6 times from 2017 to 2022, to 2.22 billion yuan ($310 million at current exchange rates).
