MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The profit of the Russian banking sector at the end of 2023 could amount to 3 trillion rubles ($32.58 bln), Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Olga Polyakova told reporters.

"Our forecast is at the level of 3 trillion rubles," she said.

According to the regulator, the profit of the Russian banking sector for 9 months of 2023 reached 2.7 trillion rubles ($29.34 bln), while in September, credit institutions earned 296 bln rubles ($3.21 bln).

The number of profitable banks, according to the Bank of Russia, in September amounted to 248 (or 77% of the total) and decreased slightly compared to August (263, or 77% of the total). At the end of nine months of 2023, there were 282 such banks (87%) with a 99% share of sector assets.
