Kazakhstan ready to boost volumes of Russian gas transit — president
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, gas industry plays a special role in sustainable social and economic development of Russia and Kazakhstan
MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Kazakhstan is ready to make full use of its transport potential and to further increase transit volumes of Russian gas, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in an interview with Russia’s Izvestia daily.
"We are interested in making full use of our transport potential and to further increase transportation volumes of the Russian gas," he said.
According to Tokayev, gas industry plays a special role in sustainable social and economic development of Russia and Kazakhstan. In particular, he noted that transit of Russian gas through Kazakh territory to Uzbekistan launched on October 7 would strengthen Central Asia’s regional and energy security, invigorate industrial development and improve business climate. Moreover, it will facilitate expansion and upgrade of Kazakhstan’s gas transport infrastructure, the president added.
