Russia's construction industry rises by 24% under sanctions
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated that sophisticated constructions, such as skyscrapers, have the highest share of imports at 40%
MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. International sanctions barely slowed the development of Russia's building industry, which rose by 24% in the past three years, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said.
"Yes, transportation has become more expensive, and costs have risen, but to say that sanctions have stopped us is an exaggeration. In three years, we saw growth of 24%. As a result, the sanctions slowed us down but did not stop us," he explained.
Khusnullin also stated that sophisticated constructions, such as skyscrapers, have the highest share of imports at 40%. At the same time, 90-95% of the materials and equipment used in simple and road construction are Russian. According to him, the most vulnerable point in construction in the face of sanctions is reliance on imported road equipment that is not manufactured in Russia.
"We might not have developed our production if there had been no sanctions. And now we have such an active development of production of materials, components, and technical systems," Khusnullin concluded.
