Russia’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN sees potential for energy sector cooperation
According to Evgeny Zagaynov, cooperation might include projects such as oil and natural gas production, coal-related clean technologies, and alternative energy sources
TOKYO, November 4. /TASS/. Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have a lot of potential for energy cooperation, Russia’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN Evgeny Zagaynov said.
"There is great potential for cooperation in energy projects, given the growing demand for energy in Southeast Asia," he said, according to Antara news agency. According to some predictions, energy demand in the region would increase by 50% by 2050, Zagaynov noted.
According to him, cooperation might include projects such as oil and natural gas production, coal-related clean technologies, and alternative energy sources, which corresponds to global demand for sustainable energy solutions.
Furthermore, as Antara reports, Zagaynov stated Russia's willingness to enhance oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to ASEAN countries, which will contribute to the region's energy security.
