MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Sales of new cars in Russia surged by 56% year on year in January - October 2023 and climbed to 1.04 mln, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade says.

"1,041,612 new cars (up to three years from the manufacture date) were sold in the territory of the Russian Federation as of the end of January - October 2023, which is 56% more than figures of the like period of the last year (667,738 units). Domestically produced cars constitute a half of this volume," the ministry informs.

In October 2023, 135,700 new motor vehicles were sold in Russia, including 111,300 cars, 10,600 light commercial vehicles, 12,700 trucks and 1,200 buses.

The Lada Granta was the bestseller in October 2023, with its sales up 19% year on year to 160,500 over ten months of this year and up 16% monthly to 18,000 in October 2023.

The Haval Jolion is second with 37,600 cars sold over ten months (+5%) and 5,600 cars in October of this year, plus 55 monthly. The Lada Niva ranks third with 37,200 units sold in January -October 2023 (plus 4%) and 4,600 - in October 2023 (also plus 4%).
