YAKUTSK, October 27. /TASS/. During the past navigation season Yakutia received 1.3 million tons of vital cargo, the regional authorities reported.
"The navigation season in 2023 is over," the region said. "We have met the plan to ship 1.3 million tons of vital cargo. The shipping companies are now preparing for the winter, and the region is getting ready for winter shipments of this cargo along the seasonal roads."
According to the region's minister for civil defense, Dmitry Lepchikov, all due cargos have been delivered to final destinations. "Right now we are planning winter deliveries," he said.
Under the Northern Supplies program, the region's remote settlements, including those in its Arctic part, receive fuel, food and other vital goods. The region is known for a high share of river traffic within a short navigation period. In 2022, about 1.2 million tons of vital cargos were shipped by water transport.
