Gazprom once again tops rating of employees’ 'dream' companies, leading pollster says
According to VCIOM, coming in at second place were four companies simultaneously at 13% each: Russian Railways, Rosneft, Sberbank and Rosatom
MOSCOW, October 25. / TASS / Gazprom has ranked in first place in a poll of where Russians would most like to work for the third year in a row, with 32% of respondents expressing the desire to be hired by and work for Russia’s gas giant, according to the results of a survey by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) published on the pollster’s website.
"For the third year in a row, Gazprom heads the national rating of dream companies; it was selected by 32% of working-age Russians (2022: 40%; 2021: 32%) from a proposed list of Russian employers. Coming in at second place were four companies simultaneously at 13% each: Russian Railways, Rosneft, Sberbank and Rosatom," VCIOM said in a press release.
Every tenth respondent (10%) said they would like to work at Yandex, while two years earlier only every sixth respondent (17%) wanted to be employed by Russia’s top tech firm. Lukoil came in at 9%, while Roscosmos, Norilsk Nickel and Tinkoff Bank tied with 8% each. Next came online retailer Wildberries, which 7% of working-age Russians preferred, followed by its competitor, Ozon, at 4%. The next most popular prospective employers were VK (4%), Rusal (4%), VTB (4%), Eurochem (3%), Alfa Group (3%) and Magnit (2%). At the same time, 8% of those surveyed said they would not like to work at any of the companies from the proposed list of employers.
According to the survey results, the preferences of respondents differ depending on their age cohort. For example, the top three companies among the youngest cohort (18 to 24 years old) are Tinkoff Bank (25%), Gazprom (24%) and Sberbank (23%), while the 25-to-34-year-old cohort preferred Gazprom (30%), Sberbank and Yandex (18% each).
The most important criteria for respondents in choosing a workplace were good salary (4.67 points out of 5); full, timely fulfillment by the company of its obligations to employees (4.64 points); and compliance with labor safety standards (4.58 points). Russians also value having a favorable psychological climate within the work team (4.43 points); stability and a feeling of confidence that no adverse changes will occur (4.42 points); and the opportunity to apply one’s professional knowledge and skills (4.41 points). As for the advantages of their current places of employment, respondents most of all noted a convenient schedule (4.29 points); the opportunity to apply one’s professional knowledge and skills (4.26 points); a favorable psychological climate within the work team (4.22 points); and compliance with occupational safety standards (4.21 points).
The survey was conducted on October 4-6, 2023, in conjunction with the "Best in Russia - Companies and Persons of the Year" award. The poll surveyed 1,200 Russians, including women ranging from 18 to 56 years old, and men up to 61 years old. The margin of error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.
