Russia expects record seafood supplies to China in 2023 — Federal Fisheries Agency
The head of the agency added that many Russian companies are actively promoting their products
QINGDAO /China/, October 25. /TASS/. The volume of supplies of Russian seafood to the Chinese market in 2023 can reach a record high and exceed $3 billion, head of the Federal Fisheries Agency of the Russian Federation Ilya Shestakov told TASS.
He said this while visiting the 26th International Chinese Seafood and Fisheries Exhibition in Qingdao (eastern Shandong Province).
"This year we expect a record volume of supplies worth more than $3 billion. For us, this is the largest market, and Russia is the second importer of its products to China. Of course, the Chinese market is the largest, and it is also ready to accept upmarket products," he said.
The head of the agency stated that many Russian companies are currently actively promoting their products.
"First of all, this concerns crab. Here at the exhibition we are discussing how to expand the range of products by adding pollock. Not only pollock, which we now mostly supply for processing, but also pollock fillets, finished products from pollock, including surimi (minced fish paste and food products prepared from it - TASS)," Shestakov said.
In 2022, according to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Russia supplied seafood worth $2.8 billion to China.
The China International Seafood and Fisheries Exhibition takes place in Qingdao on October 25-27. It hosts the Russian National Pavilion, organized by the Exposolutions group of companies with the support of the Federal Fisheries Agency. Its area exceeds 1,000 square meters. More than 40 Russian companies presented their products.
