Russia’s steel production surging in September — WSA
Steel production by Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries stood at 7.3 mln metric tons in this September, having increased by 10.7% in annual terms
MOSCOW, August 22. /TASS/. Steel production in Russia gained 9.8% year on year in September 2023 and stood at 6.2 mln metric tons, the World Steel Association (WSA) said.
Steel production in Russia edged up by 4.8% annually to 57.1 mln metric tons in January - September 2023, according to the report by WSA.
China produced 82.1 mln metric tons in September, down 5.6% on an annualized basis. India’s production totaled 11.6 mln metric tons (plus 18.2%). Steel production dropped up in Japan by 1.7% to 7 mln metric tons but ticked up in the US by 2.6% to 6.7 mln metric tons.
Steel production by Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries stood at 7.3 mln metric tons in this September, having increased by 10.7% in annual terms. These countries produced 66.3 mln metric tons of steel within nine months of 2023, up 2% year on year.
Global steel production fell by 1.5% in annual terms to 149.3 mln metric tons in September 2023, WSA reported.
