MOEX index down 0.12%, RTS index down 0.29% as Monday’s trading closes

The dollar-to-rubles rate decreased by 0.015% to 96.23 rubles, the euro dropped by 0.61% to 101.98 rubles

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. The Russian stock indices slightly declined in the course of the trading on Monday.

By the end of the trading session, the MOEX index dipped by 0.12% to 3,045.39 points, the dollar-denominated RTS index went down by 0.29% to 997.09 points.

The dollar-to-rubles rate decreased by 0.015% to 96.23 rubles, the euro dropped by 0.61% to 101.98 rubles, the yuan rate edged down by 0.015%, to 13.14 rubles.

"The Russian stock market started the week uncertainly. The MOEX index was trading just above 3,000 points <…>. Oil prices retreated to $92 per barrel Brent, the ruble showed a tendency to strengthen, and the external background was weak," says Alexander Bakhtin, investment strategist at the BCS World of investments.

The markets continue to "digest" the Fed’s comments following the September meeting. "Apparently, the American regulator decided to follow the concept of a more serious increase in interest rates for a longer period of time. Chinese and European stock indices declined moderately. The statistics of the day were positive - the September IFO business climate index in Germany came out slightly better than forecast," the expert adds.

On Monday, the leaders of growth were the shares of Sovcomflot (+6.6%), Polymetal (+4.98%), TMK (+3.71%), RusHydro (+3.35%), Etalon (+2.79%), LSR (+2.52%).

The decline leaders were shares of Detsky Mir (-2.85%), NLMK (-2.68%), En+ Group (-2.30%), Ozon (- 1.57%), Aeroflot (-1.56%) and Segezha (-1.51%).

According to a forecast by BCS World of Investments, on Tuesday, September 26, the MOEX index will be between 2,985 and 3,105 points, the dollar exchange rate - within 95-97 rubles.

Freedom Finance Global expects the MOEX index to be in the range of 3,000-3,100 points, the dollar exchange rate - in the range of 95-97 rubles, the euro rate - in the range of 101-103 rubles, the yuan - in the range of 12.9-13.3 rubles.
