Russia’s GDP grows 2.1% year-on-year in January-July — Economic Development Minister
Maxim Reshetnikov added that over six months investments grew by 7.6%
MOSCOW, September 25 /TASS/. Russia’s GDP grew by 2.1 year-on-year in January-July, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on Monday. He was speaking at a plenary meeting in the Federation Council, upper house of the Russian parliament.
"The Russian economy has completed the recovery phase. According to estimates, based on the results of 7 months, GDP growth is 2.1% year-on-year. Industry is growing, primarily due to manufacturing, construction has a high growth rate, agriculture is feeling confident," he said.
The minister added that over six months investments grew by 7.6%. According to him, there is good dynamics in lending to businesses and individuals, while consumer demand is growing.
"In general, in many key indicators the situation turned out to be significantly better than expected. This is a consequence of those decisions that were implemented on behalf of the President at the government level, the Central Bank, and were supported by the chambers of the Federal Assembly," Reshetnikov noted. He added that all this made it possible to improve forecast parameters (socio-economic development) compared to April scenario conditions.
The Economic Development Ministry expects that by the end of 2023 GDP growth will be 2.8%, and in 2024 it will reach 2.3%. After that the growth of the Russian economy will be slightly above 2% per year. Investment growth is expected to be 6% by the end of 2023 and the next three years - up to 3% per year.
