MOSCOW, July 31. /TASS/. The business program of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) to be held in Vladivostok on September 10-13 will cover discussions on a range of issues, including international cooperation, development of transport and logistics, and the evolution of preferential trade regimes, technologies and education, the press service of the office of the Presidential Envoy in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) told reporters.

FEFD Envoy and Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev held a meeting dedicated to preparations for the 7th Eastern Economic Forum. The EEF’s business program will comprise six key elements, specifically International Cooperation in a World Transformed; the Logistics of Change; the Far East Over the Past Decade: Results Achieved and What Needs To Be Done; Technological Development as a Guarantee of Sovereignty; the Far East of the Future; and Education and Training as the Basis of Independence.

"The theme of the Logistics of Change will be dedicated to discussing riverine and marine transportation, development of the Northern Sea Route and the Eastern Range," the press service said. "Also on the agenda will be the themes of the evolution of preferential trade regimes in Russia, developing infrastructure, upgrading energy systems, revitalizing Far Eastern cities, and improving the performance of the United Far Eastern Airline," it noted. "Under the theme of Education and Training as the Basis of Independence, experts will discuss such topics as developing higher education, strengthening patriotic education and military and sports training," the press service reported.

The Technological Development as a Guarantee of Sovereignty track will cover the need for strengthening Russian industry’s practical efforts at creating artificial intelligence-based technologies and production facilities, implementing agricultural and biological technologies, and developing unmanned aerial systems, all areas that will help Russia to remain one of the world’s technology leaders. Participants will discuss the new political and economic model of the world as part of the International Cooperation in a World Transformed discussion block.

Results achieved over the past decade will be summarized and new tools for developing Far Eastern regions will be the focus of discussion in the block titled the Far East Over the Past Decade: Results Achieved and What Needs To Be Done. "Many of our mechanisms have been adopted with confidence in the Arctic Zone and other territories. Fast-track development territories have appeared in single-factory towns and [trade and business] preferences [are emerging] in Russia’s Arctic Zone. At the same time, we are intensively analyzing the efforts of our competitors in neighboring countries, including in raising investment," Trutnev said.
