CNOOC completes China's longest deepwater gas pipeline in Hainan
The final section of the pipeline, which reaches 0.5 meters in diameter and 115.5 kilometers in length, is located in Lingshui Li Autonomous County
HAIKOU /China/, June 24. /TASS/. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has completed the laying of China's longest deep-water oil and gas pipeline, which connected Hainan Province with the semi-submersible floating platform Shenhai-1. This was reported by the China News Service.
According to its information, the final section of the pipeline, which reaches 0.5 meters in diameter and 115.5 kilometers in length, is located in Lingshui Li Autonomous County (south coast of the island). As CNOOC commented, this event "marks an important breakthrough in the development of deepwater technology in China."
The maximum depth in the area of oil and gas pipeline installation, as it is specified, is about 1 thousand meters. The identified reserves of the current field are estimated at 50 billion cubic meters. Since June 25, 2021, when Shenhai-1 was put into operation, the annual volume of production at the site has increased by 50%, to 4.5 billion cubic meters. Thus, this floating platform has become "an important facility for China's energy security.
The Shenhai-1 platform was designed and constructed by China itself, without foreign support. Its service life is 150 years. Its maximum storage capacity is 20,000 cubic meters.
