No customs duty is paid on sugar when it is imported in volumes not exceeding 100,000 metric tons by Belarus, 350,000 metric tons by Kazakhstan, 50,000 metric tons by Kyrgyzstan, and 100,000 metric tons by Russia
MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission has lowered the import duty on raw cane sugar to zero in 2023, the Commission’s press service reported on Thursday.
"The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission resolved to grant a tariff benefit in the form of duty-free imports of raw cane sugar within the period up to December 31, 2023," the press service said.
No customs duty is paid on sugar when it is imported in volumes not exceeding 100,000 metric tons by Belarus, 350,000 metric tons by Kazakhstan, 50,000 metric tons by Kyrgyzstan, and 100,000 metric tons by Russia.
"The decision was made subject to the indicative sugar balances of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states in 2023. The approved tariff benefit is targeted at developing domestic production in the sugar industry and ensuring supplies of raw materials for the sugar refining plants of EAEU member states," a spokesman for Eurasian Economic Commission Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev said.
The decision will take effect after 10 calendar days have elapsed from the date of its official publication.
