MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev and Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada on Wednesday signed an agreement on cooperation on using atomic energy for peaceful purposes between Moscow and Managua. Footage of the signing ceremony was shown by the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"Our non-energy technologies are unique, sovereign, and we are ready to share them with our partners. The project has a large export potential, in this sense Nicaragua may become a leader in the supply of appropriate technology to other countries of the region," Rosatom CEO said.

In turn, Moncada stressed that "it is especially important for the Nicaraguan government to sign today an agreement on the non-power application of nuclear energy". "It is vital because these technologies are used for peaceful purposes: for food security, health and agriculture. There are significant prospects for the development of these technologies as Nicaragua wants to bring it to our neighbors in Central Africa. It will be a crucial development in international cooperation," the top diplomat said.
