On February 25, Orlen said that Russian oil supplies via Druzhba to the country had been halted

WARSAW, March 6. /TASS/. Poland’s largest refining company Orlen plans to seek compensation from the Russian side for stopping oil supplies to the republic, Chief Executive Officer Daniel Obajtek said in an interview aired by Radio ZET on Monday.

"We will work on it," he said when asked whether the company had demanded compensation from the Russian side.

"This is stipulated by agreements that I cannot talk about," the CEO said. "We will definitely make claims in this field," he stated, noting that similar claims are also being made against Moscow for cutting off gas deliveries to Poland.

On February 25, Orlen said that Russian oil supplies via Druzhba to the country had been halted. Transneft’s spokesman Igor Dyomin told TASS on February 27 that the company is not currently transporting oil towards Poland, adding that oil should have been pumped to Polish refineries in late February, but routing orders with payment were not processed.

Orlen's present contract with Tatneft, which was concluded for 200,000 tons of oil per month, expires in December 2024. Russian oil is supplied to Orlen through pipelines. Warsaw refused to purchase oil from Russia by sea after the onset of the special military operation in Ukraine. Poland intends to replace Russian oil with crude from the US, the regions of the Persian Gulf and the North Sea.
