The surge in exports of Russian agricultural products to China has good prospects, Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov said

BEIJING, March 4. /TASS/. Chinese exports to Russia may anticipate an uptrend as Chinese partners are filling the niches vacated on the Russian market after Western companies’ withdrawal, Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov said in an interview with China Central Television published on Saturday.

"After being in Beijing for four months, I can say that Russian food products are very popular with Chinese and in great demand. It is really delightful," he said.

Morgulov pointed out that the surge in exports of Russian agricultural products to China has good prospects.

"Currently, we provide about 2% of all agricultural imports to China. It is obviously not enough. I am convinced that Russia could export much more goods, including food products, such as oilseeds, grain, meat, aquatic products and many others," he said.

According to the ambassador, it is promising to expand the imports of products of the pulp and paper industry, the chemical industry, including fertilizers, domestic ores, non-precious metals and articles made of them.

"Apart from that, it is delightful to see an increase in Chinese exports to Russia, primarily of machinery and complex products, which our Chinese friends are filling the void left after the Western companies’ pullout from the Russian market," Morgulov went on to say.

"Among them are computers, mobile phones and vehicles. Now we can see more and more Chinese cars on the roads of our cities, and by the way, those are good quality and look quite nice. So I see good prospects for the growth of Chinese exports to Russia," he concluded.
