Avtovaz board approves key planks of development strategy up to 2030, says minister

TOGLIATTI, March 3. /TASS/. The Avtovaz Board of Directors has approved the key focus areas of the automaker’s development strategy covering the period up to 2030, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told reporters on Friday, speaking at the launch ceremony for serial production of Lada Vesta NG cars at the auto giant’s flagship Togliatti plant.

"Today, at the Board of Directors’ [meeting], we approved [the key priorities] of Avtovaz’s development strategy up to 2030, which sets forth the basic principles that will permit expanding the range [of production], including on account of using the Togliatti and Izhevsk sites. As you know, the Nissan site recently came under the ownership of Avtovaz, and thus it’s becoming such a large-scale holding company, encompassing three basic production sites," he said.

In early September 2022, Avtovaz CEO Maxim Sokolov announced that the company intended to submit a joint-stock company development strategy to the Russian government for discussion. According to the auto executive, Avtovaz's strategy will be integrated into the overall development strategy for the Russian automotive sector up to 2035.

On March 3, Avtovaz launched mass production of the Lada Vesta NG model at its site in Togliatti. The company plans to commence deliveries of the car to more than 300 dealerships in May 2023, when it accumulates a stock of finished units. The automaker also intends to launch production of the upgraded Lada Granta model at the end of 2024.
