KRASMOYARSK, March 3. /TASS/. International flights from Kyzyl to Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar and China’s Urumqi are planned to be launched in 2024, head of Russia’s Siberian Republic of Tuva Vladislav Khovalyg told TASS on Friday on the sidelines of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.

"Plans for 2024 include the launch of international flights from Kyzyl to Mongolia - to Ulaanbaatar - and from Kyzyl to Urumqi, a city in China’s Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. We are already negotiating these options with the ministry of transport," he said, adding that it will be possible after an international terminal is commissioned at Kyzyl’s airport in 2023.

International flights from Kyzyl to China and Mongolia were originally planned to be launched in 2019 but the plans were postponed due to technical reasons.

The Vremya Sibiri (Time of Siberia) Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum is running in the hybrid format from March 1 through 3. The key venue is the Siberian Federal University, with discussions being organized in Moscow, Beijing, and Astana. TASS is the forum’s general information partner.
