US to impose export restrictions against 90 companies - White House

Companies subjected to the sanctions will be prohibited from purchasing semiconductors made in the United States or using American technology

WASHINGTON, February 24. /TASS/. The US Commerce Department will announce export restrictions against nearly 90 companies from Russia, China and other countries for helping to circumvent sanctions, according to a statement published on the White House website on Friday.

"Today, the Department of Commerce will take several export control actions, listing nearly 90 Russian and third country companies, including in China among other countries, on the Entity List for engaging in sanction evasion and backfill activities in support of Russia’s defense sector," the statement said.

Companies subjected to the sanctions will be prohibited from purchasing semiconductors made in the United States or using American technology. The US Department of Commerce, together with G7 partners and allies, also intended to coordinate measures in the sphere of industrial equipment and luxury goods. In addition, new restrictions will be imposed that "to prevent components found in Iranian drones from making their way onto the battlefield in Ukraine," the statement pointed out.
