MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. The American pharmaceutical company Viatris informed Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry that it is suspending supplies of the drug Viagra in its pill form to Russia, the ministry’s press service told TASS.
"The drug with the trade name "Viagra'' corresponds to the international non-proprietary name (INN) sildenafil and is not produced on the territory of Russia. In 2022, Viatris informed about the suspension of the supply of the pill form of the Viagra drug," the press service said
To ensure local production of the drug, the Russian authorities supported launching and conducting clinical trials of the drug with INN sildenafil in pill form, which was registered and is regularly introduced into public life.

According to the state register of medicines, 36 companies in Russia have 49 registration certificates for drugs with the specified INN. The volume of production of these drugs in January-September 2022 increased by more than 11% in physical terms. The sales of this drug in the reporting period also increased by more than 15%, the Industry and Trade Ministry said.
