MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Armenia and Russia for the first time exceeded $5 billion in 2022, Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Narek Teryan said on Wednesday. He was speaking at the founding meeting of the Russian-Armenian Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation.
"According to the results of 2022, our trade turnover for the first time exceeded 5 billion (dollars), and it is important to say that both our exports and imports are growing evenly. <...> We think we still have a fairly large potential for growth. I am sure that the creation of such a platform for our business communities will give an additional impetus to our relations," he said.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced a record high in Russian-Armenian trade turnover. During a visit to Almaty, Kazakhstan, in early February, he noted that over 11 months of 2022, trade between the countries soared by 77% year-on-year and exceeded $4.1 billion. In 2021, trade turnover between Russia and Armenia totaled $2.6 billion.
