Russian aviation industry has every chance to develop — Security Council
The share of indigenous airplanes in the fleet of Russian airlines should grow dramatically in the coming years, Nikolay Patrushev stressed
RYBINSK, February 3. /TASS/. The Russian aviation industry has every opportunity for new development amid sanctions restrictions but there is a need to significantly increase production capacity in a short time, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said on Friday.
"A number of positive changes has taken place in the national aviation industry in recent years, in association with the launch of critical projects to create and upgrade aircraft, technical revamp of plants, stimulation of production certification processes and the government defense order increase," Patrushev said at a meeting on staff training for the sector. However, sanctions have posed many additional challenges for Russia; problems arose with supplies of components, materials and equipment," the official noted.
"At the same time, Russia has every opportunity for the domestic aviation industry not merely overcoming current challenges but also receiving a new impetus for development. Certainly, this is a chance for aviation plants of the sector to significantly scale up production," Patrushev said. "In this regard, the aviation industry needs to significantly increase capacity and create new production lines in a short period of time. Certainly, key issues are the availability of developments and technologies, equipment and, certainly, skilled personnel," he said.
The share of indigenous airplanes in the fleet of Russian airlines should grow dramatically in the coming years, Patrushev added.
