ALMATY, February 3. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Commission is not ruling out the risk of recession in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2023, official spokesperson of EEC Iya Malkina said at a briefing.
"The final results for 2022 are still being summarized. According to the Commission’s estimate, the overall GDP of Union’s member-states will decrease by no more than 1.9% as of 2022 year-end. Certainly, we do not exclude the risk of recession in 2023," Malkina said.
Growth was noted in a number of key economic spheres, the spokesperson noted. "At the same time, in 2022 we saw growth in such key spheres of the economy as agriculture - it stood at about 5.1% and almost $155 bln in terms of money. As regards the volume of construction work, growth of more than 5.5% was seen and the amount totaled $178 bln for eleven months," she said.
Over nine months of 2022, capital investments "gained 5.3% and industrial output in the first eleven months showed resilience against the 2021 level and stood at one and a half trillion US dollars," Malkina added.
